Editorial policy
Accuracy, clarity, independence, and visible limitations guide every article.
Research standards
We prioritize primary sources: issued policy forms, state insurance departments, federal agencies, statutes and regulations, and recognized consumer resources such as the NAIC. Secondary sources may provide context but should not override primary material.
Writing standards
- Explain technical terms when first used.
- Separate common patterns from guaranteed policy outcomes.
- Avoid calling a product “best” without a defined methodology.
- State when rules vary by state, plan, or insurer.
- Never invent quotations, statistics, credentials, or first-hand experience.
Review and updates
Each guide displays a publication or review date. Material changes should trigger a new review. An update date does not mean every linked external page remains unchanged.
Commercial independence
Advertising does not determine conclusions. Sponsored material, if introduced, will be labeled. We do not currently sell consumer leads or accept payment for ranking an insurer.
Use of automation
Drafting and editing tools may assist production, but publication requires human-directed topic selection, fact framing, source review, and final responsibility. We do not represent automated output as professional advice.
Corrections policy
Confirmed material errors will be corrected promptly and, when useful to readers, noted on the affected page. Differences in policy wording are not automatically errors; the relevant contract and jurisdiction must be identified.
